Kanye West has recently been in the spotlight, though his notoriety has been steadily decreasing. During the time when he tweeted something arguably anti-Semitic. My friend explained to me how during his time of need he was just made into a shocking story, and he was clearly crying for help. Beyond what he was saying there was an underlying issue of a man going through another incredibly stressful period in his life due to the divorce of his partner. Kanye West is simply brilliant. He has pioneered a style of rap that inspired today’s rappers, and had created a musical style that is so unique and iconic.

It is unlikely that Kanye West will read this, but if he does, here is what I want to say.

At it’s heart, bipolar is an illness, and a lifelong one at that. Yes, bipolar can be an illness that has many positives, such as the creativity, charisma, social lubrication, the lack of a need for sleep and the general sense of euphoria during the manic episodes, or even day to day life. But it is a bad thing at its core. Bipolar can decrease your IQ and your ability to cognitively function. It can make you stick to ideas that are not true and hurt your life. It can hurt your relationships in ways most people can’t imagine, and sometimes irreparably. It is a serious disability.

When you are off medication, you can think of countless reasons not to be on it. But in reality, it is like living life with a 50kg weight on your back. Now there are benefits to having a 50kg weight on your back. You can get stronger, and more muscular, but you can also do some serious damage. Taking medication is like letting something else take care of that 50kg weight, or perhaps 40-45 kilos of that weight, so you have a much reduced workload.

In a good way, you enjoy life more as you don’t have to do so much.

I believe you are believing the right things but are saying them the wrong way and attracting the wrong crowd. Your energy is not in the right place. We live in a lucky time as there really is a magic pill that you can take to feel so much better, and live to your fullest potential.
