There are 2 videos I’d like to share. The links are below, but the gists are as follows.
"" I suspect that we’re pretty awful people if we say that somebody got a mental illness and then we watch what they do. If you say somebody got special needs, then why would you be watching them and holding them accountable? Wouldn’t you grade them on a curve? Because I mean, what are we reacting to? What are we reacting to? "" - Katt Williams
The second it a Darren Brown video. It let people anonymously and as a group, control the life of a single individual. Either a good thing or a bad thing could happen to this single individual. They first started to chose embarrassing situations but not dangerous situations as it would become, making him think that there were real life situations where he was having strokes of bad luck, when really a production crew was making it happen.
To put a long story short, the anonymous crowd even asked for the single individual to be kidnapped, which led him to run away and be hit by a car (this last thing was fake but everything before it happened to the single individual).
We have all done something that we wouldn’t have if we weren’t in a group. I’ve done countless silly things.
Now there are a lot of great things that came out of social media as it is. People are a lot more reluctant to commit crimes as everyone has a camera on them. The me too movement helped people speak out and prevented people in positions of power to abuse their position.
But when you fail to keep your wits about you, you can do things for the fun of it and not because it is the right thing to do. You can make it harder for creatives to make art.
For example, I recently found a content creator often known as rwxrob. He does something that I never really considered was a good step at all, but I admire his action and perhaps change my stance on it. He has put out his zettels for the public to see, in order to try and help others. These zettels are like streams of consciousness, where he just writes his thoughts and puts them out.
This allows his productivity to improve tenfold, as there is no friction between the soul and the essay.
This comes at a cost. This cost is mitigated by his disclaimer. Do not be a journalist or a witch hunter and try to use his zettels to paint perhaps a false, “clickbaity” narrative, that is not what they are meant for and doing so will likely reap negative consequences for yourself.
I don’t think I could put out my own personal wiki to the public. Perhaps after I have passed away I would consider it, in fact I would like the world to see what I was thinking, as long as it didn’t put any problems on my friends and family.
But for now, I don’t even want my closest family or friends to see any of my zettels without me wanting to, me being there as they look etc. I want it to be art that is completely free to be what it wants to be. I think of myself as pretty open at times, but releasing my zettels out is open even for me.
I have great admiration for rwxrob.
In the conscious world, free of polluting mother nature, where each individuals base human desires are looked at and managed well. Where education is free and is held in high regard by everyone. Where those with different psychological and genetic traits are treated, and given an adequate place in the world to give value to themselves and others.
Where if we find out someone has done something wrong to others, our first instinct is not to cancel them, but to rehabilitate them. To give them the chance to better themselves and make sure that they do not continue to do the thing that they did.
There may be a time when I make a mistake, and something in my past gets revealed. I hope that I can be the person I want to be in that situation. Apologise completely, not deny the action that I had made. Perhaps give as much as I can to charities that help other victims of the action that I did. This is not an admission of guilt, but it is acceptance that I too am human and can make mistakes in the future. Just like you.
So let’s be compassionate to ourselves and others.
